February 2017 | ISE Magazine 61 The world's premiere industrial and systems engineering con- ference is bringing out the heavy hitters in logistics and manu- facturing. The IISE Annual Conference and Expo keynote speakers are Sev McMurtry, senior vice president of operations plan- ning and engineering for FedEx Ground, and Francis J. Kram- er, chairman of the board for II-VI Inc. McMurtry has more than 29 years of experience working for FedEx Ground. He became a manager in 1993, a director in 1996, a vice president in 2003 and a senior vice president in 2008. The company has honored him with its FedEx Ground Five Star Award. He earned his bachelor's degree from The Pennsylvania State University and his master's degree from Carnegie-Mellon University. Kramer joined II-VI Inc., a vertically integrated manufac- turer of engineered materials and optoelectronic components, in 1983, rising to serve as president, CEO and then both chair- man and CEO. He now chairs the company's board of direc- tors. His B.S. in industrial engineering is from the University of Pittsburgh; his M.S. in industrial administration is from Purdue University. In an age where sustainability is a driving force for manage- ment and operations, it's only appropriate that the conference will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, a platinum-certified LEED building in Pittsburgh. Attendees can examine how the center achieved the U.S. Green Building Council's highest LEED (Leadership in En- ergy and Environmental Design) rating. The conference, scheduled for May 20-23, also includes nu- merous breakout sessions, networking events and pre-confer- ence workshops to meet continuous learning needs. Early-bird registration ends April 9. For more details and to register, visit www.iise.org/a al. Keynoters with gravitas Annual conference lands speakers from logistics and manufacturing kudos.
