From Mayo to Minnesota Lineup solidifies for healthcare systems conference keynote speakers Julia Abate is looking forward to the Applied Ergonomics Conference, scheduled for March 26-29 at the Hilton At- lanta. Abate, who was incoming conference chair for the con- ference last year and this year, said the conference is always a great way to connect with friends and colleagues you see once a year, along with making new personal connections through structured events like the first-timer orientation, international meet and greet, poster sessions and speed net- working. "It's great to socialize, network and support each other," she said. "It's also great to make new contacts." Last year's edition, the 20th, meant a lot to longtime vol- unteers like Abate, who will chair the conference in 2019. After all, the conference, sponsored by IISE's Global Asso- ciation of Ergonomics (GOErgo) is organized by volunteers for volunteers. "We have a history of professionals dedicated to ensuring that there is a venue like the Applied Ergonomics Confer- ence where practitioners, academics and others from around the world can come together to network and share best prac- tices in the field of ergonomics," she said. This year's gathering again will feature numerous breakout sessions, featured and keynote speakers, networking events and the internationally recognized Ergo Cup competition. Visitors last year told Abate that they had a hard time decid- ing which sessions to attend because the educational program was packed, as it will be this year.
